Renzo Piano. The art of Making Buildings.

I really enjoyed this exhibition, took back a lot of memories from when I was at the University, and in Paris.

Also reminded how fond I was about Ove Arup and Partners.

1 grado

Ho i piedi freddi.

Renzo Piano. The Art of Making Buildings

I really enjoyed this exposition. A lot of good memories came back, when I was thinking that Architecture would become my life.
The available drawings and models are super well presented, so to be interesting for both architects and non-architects.
I loved to remember how importat Ove Arup and Partners have been for the development of the contemporary architecture that has shaped the world in the last 40 years.

“Dedicated to Peter Rice” , made me smile. He was such an important engineer, at the age of 28 he was the structural engineer of the Sydney Opera House!

My first Indian birthday

Basically the most important event lately has been my birthday 🙂

It has been a working day in the office. I have had a double lovely surprise: I finished my shift at 00:30. The team had the “happy birthday” song in the background music and this has been a huge surprise for me. 😊

The next day, was working again and at around 6pm  a cake appeared on the floor surprising me again. Is Tradition in India to give cake with hands to the one who is celebrating birthday, and also to spread cake on the face. (I have missed this second step.) it has been a completely unexpected part of the celebration. One of the lovely ladies I am working with, her name Ashwini took me a typical local “sweet bite”  made with garam flour that I liked very much. I looked for the recipe online and I will try to replicate that once at home.

Last but not least I also had a loved dinner next day with Ilaria and Luigi at the Hyatt Pune Hotel And got a second yummy cake.

My first Indian Street market in Pune

Up to now I have been following all the sanitary advices I got from my most Indian “experienced”   friends. This means that the only unforseen culinary event has been eating the buffet prepared for us by the staff that we are training here in the office.
This is only a small part of all the food they prepared for us. 4 different curries, 3 different breads, 2 different rices, a chicken biryani, peas and paneer, and 4 different sweet dishes. The obvious funny thing is being told a dish “is not spicy” and then finding it spicy for my European tastes. 🙂 it is an obvious difference in degrees of spiciness in different areas of the planet.

I really enjoyed all the food that has been prepared for us. They have all been so kind. I like when people are proud of their culinary tradition. 😀

Sunday has been a day of sightseeing around the city. We really underestimated how crowded can be a temple on Sundays with the result of been able to see Ganesh Temple – Dagdusheth Ganpati – only from outside. We then headed to a big Street market nearby. The last hop of the day was the Shaniwar Wada Fort where unexpectedly we turned out to be the attraction for some young locals wanting to take pictures with us (sooo weird!) 😁

Pune day 5. Me and my ginger tea.

Today I was not feeling like eating anything but I felt like I needed a big ginger tea.

So I went on the ground floor in the IBM canteen and tried to order a double ginger tea.

“how much is a double ginger tea? ”
” 50″
“How big is the double tea? ”

He shows me a paper cup smaller than a mug.

” here on the board the price Il 10, how big is the regular one? ”

He shows me  paper cup that is half the previous one.

” is the big one the double of the small one? ”

He is not fully happy with that, but says Yes.

” so how much will be the price? ”

” 20″

“fine. It is with no milk, is it? ” I ask two times.

He moves his head, pours the tea in a side and I can not see what he is doing, but he handles me something that is not transparent.

OK. 20 rupees for a tea that I have thrown away.
(note to self: Next time leave it on the counter).

50 giorni a Pune. Day 1

L’arrivo a Pune è liberatorio.

oggi va cos

Londra, estate, interno giorno.
Luce accesa.

E mi bacio i gomiti.

21 Marzo 2015 Instagramers day London

e all’improvviso mi avessero sfrattato.

addio friendfeed – ti ho amato di amore vero – benvenuto frenf.it

18 Incredible Places You Won’T Believe Are Actually In London

Posted in città, vita | Tagged | Comments Off on 18 places to visit in London

no, non è ancora primavera

e visi tesi, a venti, come trenta, come cinquantanni

legge sempre poca gente,

in piedi, mi tenevo all’apposito sostegno
e mi guardavo intorno
